Technical Support You can always check the status of the network by calling our office (264-8787) or visiting the "Scheduled Maintenance" page. If we report that there is a problem with the network, please do not make any changes to your router or computer. We're working on it and service will be restored as soon as possible. If the network status is normal and you are unable to access the internet, we encourage you to try the following before contacting us:
1. Check all cables to be sure they are snapped securely into their sockets. Please pay careful attention to how things are plugged in before unplugging them so as to be sure to plug them back in the correct sockets.
2. Power cycle the router by unplugging the power cord from the back of the router, waiting at least 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in. If this step did not restore your connection, please continue with the next steps.
**Note: DO NOT PRESS THE RESET BUTTON...(Doing so without knowing the proper configuration information may result in the cost of a service call to restore your connection.)**
3. Power cycle the radio by unplugging the black Motorola power inverter from its power outlet, waiting 15 seconds and then plug it back in. If that doesn’t work...try the next step.
4. Repeat Step 1...Then "Shut Down" your computer (not Restart...but Shut Down), while the computer is shut down, Repeat Step 2...After completing step 2...turn the computer back on and let it completely load before trying to pull up any pages. After it has completely loaded...open a browser page (Internet Explorer, Firefox...any browser of your choice) and see if you have internet connectivity. If you do...STOP HERE.
5. Check the IP addresses in the router if you are comfortable doing so...launch your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. You will be prompted for a user name and password. The user name will be "admin" and the password is "password". (For Linksys routers...the user name is left blank and the password is "admin".) In the basic set up page for the Netgear Router, in the middle of the page is the "Internet IP Address" section and you should see three sets of numbers that start with 208 or 255. If the numbers start with 192 then you will need to call to get the appropriate numbers if you do not already have the correct information. (In a Linksys router you will need to select "Static IP" from the drop down box at the top of the set up page in order to see the static IP information.)
6. If all of the above seems to be in order but you still can’t connect, please give us a call and report your problem. We want to help you and if we miss your call, please leave a message and we'll call you back as soon as we can.
